Informative Article

As part of a graduate-level class in Digital Storytelling, I worked to craft compelling stories and articulate how digital storytelling could be utilized in nonprofit sectors such as adult education. For this article, I researched trends and best practices in adult education storytelling to write an informative guide applicable in the classroom and at the organizational level.

In this piece, I prioritized using clear examples and focusing on the way stories can inspire adult education students, teachers, volunteers, and others to support organizations working to provide access to literacy.

Advocacy Blog Post

As a communications and development associate through LVI AmeriCorps/scaleLIT, I worked to build content around the organization’s services and advocacy. As part of this, I solicited quotes and photos from various stakeholders to promote Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.

In crafting the advocacy blog post, I focused on concisely summarizing scaleLIT’s AEFL events and highlighting multimedia responses from our partners, whom I was able to then tag in social media content for the post and further boost engagement.

Event Review

While studying at DePaul University, I worked as a graduate assistant in my department (Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse). In this role, I promoted department news and events via social media, printed materials, and blog posts.

This event review, published on the WRD Blog, summarizes an on-campus presentation by Dr. Phaedra Pezzullo, Co-Director for the Center for Creative Climate Communication and Behavior Change. In writing, I worked to highlight the speaker’s distinct voice by incorporating direct quotes and samples from the presentation itself while still being concise to adhere to blog post genre conventions.
